The Allamanda Beach Resort in Grenada is the perfect place for the “independent traveler.” Set directly on the white sands of Grand Anse Beach, the Allamanda is near the public bus and within walking distance of numerous shops and restaurants, an ideal base for exploring the local area. Reasonably priced and centrally located, the Allamanda hotel is ten minutes from the Port Salines Airport and ten minutes from Grenada’s capital city, St. George’s. The rooms have an airy, tropical theme typical of the islands, and each of the 50 first and second floor rooms have private balconies that face the Caribbean Sea with wonderful views of St. George’s Port across the bay. The Allamanda is a three-story building without an elevator or bellman, but there is one handicapped accessible room available.
The island of Grenada has at least 30 dive sites, and most of them are within fifteen minutes of Grand Anse Beach. In association with the Grand Anse Scuba Grenada Ltd., the Allamanda offers dive packages that suit divers of all levels of experience. The dive packages include guide, boat trip, tank, and weights. Honeymoon and Wedding packages that include tours of the island and fresh fruit, flowers, and a welcome drink are also available.
The privately owned Sapphire Restaurant and Bar is located on the premises of the Allamanda. The poolside, open-air restaurant serves Carribean and French Creole Cuisine, and the staff is friendly and unpretentious. In the late afternoon, when business slows down at the restaurant, the staff are willing to hang out with guests and discuss island life in Grenada.
The area around the hotels on Grand Anse Beach is known as Little Wall Street because there are four banks within 100 meters. From the Allamanda, guests can see a green where locals play cricket in the afternoon. Allamanda guests seeking relaxation can schedule a Swedish massage or reflexology session, or take an afternoon dip in the pool. The natural fauna near the hotel is lush and green, with hummingbirds and pelicans often in plain sight.
Price Range- Rooms range from $150-325 USD per night based on single or double occupancy (plus 18% Government Tax and Service Charge). Dive packages are available.
