Situated on the southern end of the Big Island of Hawaii, the Macadamia Meadows Bed and Breakfast of Naalehu is a perfect compromise for visitors who can't decide between Hilo and Kona. Equidistant from both cities and in an incredibly diverse section of the island, the hotel is perfect for nature-loving guests who want quick access to the green sand beach, the lunar-like lava fields and the tropical rainforest.
A working macadamia nut farm as well as a comfortable hotel, the proprietors take great pride in their harvest, one of the most famous crops in the Hawaiian islands. Tours of the eight-acre property are free and provide a highly informative look into the workings of agricultural hotels. Sports enthusiaists will enjoy tennis, swimming in the in-ground ocean view pool, or playing some ball at the basketball hoops. The tennis court in particular is recommended for its ocean views and stargazing potential.
The five rooms are large and offer a comfortable sitting area, refrigerators and microwaves. The Punaluu Black Sand, Papakaleo Green Sand, and Macadamia rooms all have a private bath. Larger parties can reserve a combination package for their vacation in the Volcano and Hawaiian rooms. The Volcano is a comfortable suite by itself, but the added space of the Hawaiian extends the sleeping quarters for additional privacy and doubles the number of television sets.
Hawaii has many hidden secrets, and Naalehu is a holiday destination that is often foolishly overlooked by those attracted to the larger towns. The relaxed setting and fantastic variation in the land makes the Macadamia Meadows Bed and Breakfast the perfect setting to explore this fascinating corner of the Big Island.
