Oldest House Museum and Tom Majors Garden is located at 322 Duval Street in Key West. The house features family portraits and original furnishings, as well as other period pieces, ship models, and documents telling the story of old Key West. In the rear of the house is the spacious and peaceful garden where one can sit on benches and enjoy the cool share of the amazing tree canopy. There you will also find the oldest surviving Cook house in South Florida. Come tour the Oldest House in Key West, built in 1829. It is Key West's oldest wood frame vernacular home ( a simple wood frame building, which is the product of the builder's experience, available resources and response to the environment) and its cookhouse located in the beautiful garden. The Museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 4pm. Guided tours are offered on Thursday and Fridays from 10:30am to 1pm. The tour will give visitors an overview of the history of the home in addition to the Watlington/Johnson family that occupied the home until 1972.
